Uploading to the TEP server from the TEP lab
- Select "Chooser" from the Apple menu.
- Select "AppleShare"
- Select TEPKeck as the "zone"
- Select TEPServer2
- Enter your username and password
- Select your folder
- Close Chooser
You'll now find a folder on the desktop. You can now drag your files from the local computer to the "Sites" folder to "publish" them on the web, or drag them from there to your local computer to work on them.
Publishing using a Mac computer from home
Publishing using a Windows computer from home
If you're using a Windows computer from home, use these instructions:
- Connect to the Internet.
- Start up Internet Explorer
- Enter into the URL field: ftp://tepserver.ucsd.edu (note the ftp instead of the usual http
- Enter your username and password (leave the Account field blank)
- The set of folders in your server space should now appear.
You can now drag your files from the local computer to the "Sites" folder and vice versa.
The URL of your web filesThe URL for your web files will be:
http://tepserver.ucsd.edu/~YOUR-ID/YOUR-FILENAME
where YOUR-ID is replaced by your id (the first initial of your first name and then your last name with no spaces) and YOUR-FILENAME is the name of the file.
So for example, one URL might be http://tepserver.ucsd.edu/~jlevin/eportfolio.htm
